What is demon of champawat?

The Demon of Champawat was a female Bengal tiger responsible for an estimated 436 deaths in Nepal and India during the late 19th century. She is believed to have developed an incisor tooth injury, which made hunting more difficult, leading her to turn to easier prey: humans. She was active from 1900 to 1907, when she was finally killed by British hunter and conservationist Jim Corbett. The story of the Demon of Champawat has inspired several books and movies, including the novel "The Hunter's Moon" by Ouida and the movie "Man-Eaters of India." The tiger's skull is on display at the British Museum.
